A $50,000 Powerball Ticket Bought in Goshen, Indiana Is About to Expire - and No One Has Come Forward

Sometime before the Wednesday, April 15, 2026 Powerball drawing, someone in Goshen, Indiana bought a ticket that would go on to match four of the five white balls plus the Powerball itself - 13, 21, 27, 43 and 45, with a Powerball of 26. That combination is worth $50,000. Nearly six months later, according to the Hoosier Lottery, nobody has stepped forward to claim it.

The winning ticket was sold at Handy Spot Liquor No. 4, at 1827 Lincolnway East in Goshen, a city of about 35,000 people in Elkhart County in northern Indiana. Whoever bought it has given no indication - publicly, at least - that they know what they're holding.

Hoosier Lottery rules give players 180 days from a drawing to claim a prize. For this ticket, that clock runs out at 4:30 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. After that, the lottery says, the money is forfeited. Prizes can be claimed by mail or in person at the Hoosier Lottery's Prize Payment office at 1302 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis; the lottery has urged the ticket holder to keep it somewhere safe and to consider talking to a financial advisor before claiming.

Unclaimed prizes are not unusual across Powerball's multi-state footprint - a $1 million ticket sold in Austin, Texas, came just as close to its own deadline earlier this year. Powerball draws three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights, for $2 a ticket, with prizes ranging from a $4 Powerball-only match up to the multi-state jackpot; fixed prizes like this $50,000 tier are paid out regardless of whether the jackpot itself is won that night.
