The Georgia Lottery (officially the Georgia Lottery Corporation, and "GA Lottery" to most of its players) has been running since June 1993 and exists for one legislated purpose: funding the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia's statewide Pre-K program. It has returned more than $29 billion to those programs since inception. It is also a genuine pioneer of online play — Georgia became one of the first US states to sell draw-game tickets over the internet back in November 2012, years before most states considered it.

The three-draws-a-day cadence on Cash 3 and Cash 4 — midday, evening and night — is a Georgia signature; most states stop at two. Jumbo Bucks Lotto is the home-grown jackpot game, a classic pick-6 whose jackpots roll from $1 million.

Georgia Lottery online: an American pioneer

Georgia has sold tickets online since November 2012, first through its iHOPE debit program and today through the Georgia Lottery's own website and mobile app. Registered players 18 and over can buy Powerball, Mega Millions, Fantasy 5, Cash4Life and more at face value, plus a catalogue of online-only Diggi instant games. As everywhere in the US, geolocation applies — you must be inside Georgia at the moment of purchase. How the official-platform model compares with courier services and messenger sites is covered in our guide to buying lottery tickets online.

Georgia Lottery results and winning numbers

For the daily state games — Cash 3, Cash 4, Georgia FIVE, Fantasy 5, Cash Pop, Keno — the winning numbers are published by the Georgia Lottery on galottery.com immediately after each draw, and that is where to check them; we do not republish state daily-game numbers we cannot verify against a data feed. For the multi-state games we keep complete archives of our own: every Powerball draw with full prize breakdowns, and every Mega Millions draw likewise.

The HOPE Scholarship: where every profit dollar goes

Georgia's lottery has the clearest mission statement in American lotteries: every dollar of profit funds the HOPE Scholarship, which pays tuition at Georgia public colleges for students who keep a B average, and the state's universal Pre-K program. More than 2.1 million students have gone to college on HOPE money since 1993. It is the model that several other education lotteries were later built on.

Taxes on Georgia Lottery prizes

Georgia withholds 24% federal tax plus Georgia's flat state income tax — 4.99% for 2026 — on prizes above $5,000. The state rate has been stepping down annually under Georgia's flat-tax law, so the withholding figure follows the income-tax rate for the year you claim. How Georgia compares with other states

Georgia sits at the permissive end of a wildly uneven map. Virginia followed it online in 2020 with its own official platform, while Texas banned online and courier sales entirely in 2025. The full state-by-state picture — who sells online, who allows couriers, who prohibits everything — is in our US lottery overview and our comparison of every legal way to buy Powerball tickets online.
