One Ticket in a Brianza Village Just Took €223 Million - the Biggest SuperEnalotto Win Ever Made Over a Counter

Italy had been waiting. The most coveted result in SuperEnalotto - six numbers, exactly - had not come up since 22 May 2025, when a player in Desenzano del Garda took €35.4 million. Every draw since had pushed the pot higher and sent it back out unclaimed. Draw number 146, on the evening of Friday 11 September 2026, ended the run.

The winning slip was played in Lombardy, at the AL CHICHERIN outlet at Via Milano 36 in La Valletta Brianza, in the province of Lecco. One player, one combination, no share. The operator has not named them, and Italy does not require winners of this size to go public.

The winning line for draw 146 was 8, 13, 16, 52, 64 and 70, with Jolly 17 and SuperStar 21. The jackpot was not the only prize of the night: five players matched the "4 Stella" result on the SuperStar number and took €30,854 each.

€223,173,416.83 is the second-highest jackpot in SuperEnalotto's history. The top figure still belongs to the €371,133,424.51 shared out on 16 February 2023, which was won through a syndicate system played on the Bacheca dei sistemi. What makes the Brianza result its own kind of record is that it is the largest amount ever won on a single ticket or combination played over the counter in a shop. Third on the all-time list sits the €209,160,441.54 won in Lodi on 13 August 2019.

With this result, SuperEnalotto has now produced 135 first-category wins since the game launched in 1997. Across those 135, the game has paid out more than €5 billion in top-tier prizes alone.

Before the draw, the operator described the SuperEnalotto pot as the largest jackpot anywhere in the world at that moment. It had passed €210 million in mid-August and was still climbing through early September, sitting at €223.2 million by the Thursday 10 September draw.

A SuperEnalotto jackpot does not taper off - it resets. The pot restarted at €26.5 million for the following evening's draw on Saturday 12 September, which produced no "6" and no "5+": eighteen players took €10,512.88 each with a "5". By the Tuesday 15 September draw it was already back above €27.3 million.

Players pick six numbers from 1 to 90. Draws are held four times a week - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday - at 20:00 Italian time. Tickets are sold in licensed Italian outlets and through authorised online operators; players outside Italy can use a licensed lottery courier, which buys an official ticket on your behalf and holds it securely. Must be 18 or over.
