BCLC says the winner claimed the December 2025 Gold Ball prize on October 16, 2026, with a ticket that had only been checked by eye.
A big prize, finally collected
A Lotto 6/49 ticket worth $46 million has found its owner. BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) says a Quesnel resident, identified only as Richard Z., walked into its Kamloops office on October 16, 2026 to claim the Gold Ball jackpot from the December 20, 2025 draw.
Where the ticket came from
The winning ticket was bought at Billy Barker Casino in Quesnel, in central British Columbia. Reports at the time of the draw said only that someone in the province held the prize; the buyer's name was not released then.
How he found out
According to BCLC, Richard heard that a Quesnel player had won, checked the BCLC website, and suspected the ticket was his. He described the ticket as having been visually validated only, and said the news brought tears of joy.
What comes next
Richard says he and his wife plan to travel, with a visit to the pyramids in Egypt on his list. BCLC adds that B.C. players have redeemed more than $135 million in Lotto 6/49 prizes so far in 2026.
