The next El Gordo de la Primitiva draw is on the next Sunday evening, at about 9:30 pm Madrid time. That is 8:30 pm in the UK and 3:30 pm US Eastern all year, 9:30 pm in Nigeria and 10:30 pm in South Africa while Spain is on winter time. For India, the Philippines and Australia the draw falls after midnight, early on Monday. El Gordo de la Primitiva is drawn once a week, so a missed Sunday means a seven-day wait.

What day is the El Gordo de la Primitiva draw?

El Gordo de la Primitiva is drawn every Sunday by Spain's state lottery operator, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (SELAE), in its draw hall in Madrid. Five numbers come from 1 to 54, then one Clave (key number) from 0 to 9. There is no midweek draw. The other Spanish games fill the rest of the week: La Primitiva on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and BonoLoto every day. This is also not the Christmas lottery. The Sorteo Extraordinario de Navidad, whose top prize is nicknamed El Gordo, is a separate once-a-year raffle on 22 December.

What time is the El Gordo draw in your country?

Spanish press listed the Sunday draw at 9:40 pm peninsular time in October 2026, while the lottery feed this site follows stamped the 27 September results at 9:30 pm. Treat 9:30 to 9:40 pm Madrid as the window; the table uses 9:30 pm, so add ten minutes if you want the later figure. The Canary Islands are one hour behind Madrid. Spain changes its clocks on the last Sunday of March and October, which shifts the time in countries that do not move on the same day. These are the times in your country:

CountrySpain on winter time (CET)Spain on summer time (CEST)
United Kingdom8:30 pm Sunday8:30 pm Sunday
Nigeria9:30 pm Sunday8:30 pm Sunday
South Africa10:30 pm Sunday9:30 pm Sunday
India2:00 am Monday1:00 am Monday
Philippines4:30 am Monday3:30 am Monday
Sydney and Melbourne7:30 am Monday5:30 am Monday
US Eastern3:30 pm Sunday3:30 pm Sunday

Nigeria, South Africa, India and the Philippines do not change their clocks, so their time moves by an hour when Spain does. The UK moves on the same day as Spain, so it stays at 8:30 pm. Sydney and Melbourne change on other dates, and the United States changes on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November, so for a week or two either side of Spain's change the gap is an hour different from the table. The Sydney and Melbourne column assumes daylight saving there matches the season.

When do El Gordo de la Primitiva tickets stop selling?

We could not confirm a single sales cut-off from the operator, so this page does not quote one. Sellers set their own, and the cut-off that counts is the one on the checkout page where you buy. If you order through a lottery courier, the ticket is bought in Spain and held in your account, so allow time for that and order on Saturday or earlier on Sunday rather than in the last hour before the draw.

What does the El Gordo de la Primitiva jackpot pay?

A single bet costs €1.50. The jackpot needs all five numbers plus the Clave, at odds of 1 in 31,625,100, and carries a guaranteed minimum of €5 million that rolls over until someone wins it. The chance of winning something on a bet is about 1 in 6.2, mostly small shares of the prize fund. The El Gordo odds and prizes guide lists every prize category.
